Beef Research

Mole Valley Farmers are committed to research and development in the beef sector and the business recognises the need for latest in-depth knowledge, understanding and thinking in this key area.
The product management team are working with beef farmers, academic research institutes and other leading organisations to develop cost effective solutions to address current challenges and new opportunities.
Current areas of interest are summarised below.
- The use of a new feed additive in the cereal beef sector (trial completed at Harper Adams University College).
- Greenhouse gas emissions and the carbon footprint of beef production systems.
- The development of system specific dry calf feeds.
- The importance of forage quality (part of SilAC initiative).
- Mineral nutrition in the beef sector.
- New farm management services beef model.
- Routine review of beef sector scientific literature.
