HawkEyes - Wind Driven Bird Scarer

HawkEyes is an effective bird deterrent that is economical, easy to use and really works! Use it to protect crops, silage bales and clamps, gardens, allotments, vineyards, orchards, boats and airports.
As the wind turns the globe, the combination of unsettling movement, bright warning colours, alarming predator eyes and flashing strobe light effects, the HawkEyes panic, alarm and confuse the birds.

For optimum crop protection, several strategically placed HawkEyes globes are needed using a mix of red and yellow globes. They are very visible with strobe-like flashes from the holographic reflective material.
Warning – suitable for light and normal wind conditions, remove or protect in severe weather.
Instructions for Use
Push firmly into the ground (500 – 600mm). In exposed areas and in high wind conditions, use a supporting stake (fig 1).

It is adviseable to glue the segment rods into the black discs after assembly using a liquid penetrating glue, such as Super Glue (fig 2).

Assembly Instructions

Insert pole A into pole B as shown.

Layout all segments on the ground in order 1- 8 to form the predator face and ensure that all segments are assembled in the sequence shown.

Take the first segment, insert rods into holes in top black discs as in diagram A. Insert rods in lower black disc as in diagram B. Repeat procedure for the remaining segments working around in an anti-clockwise direction as in diagram C.

Segments overlap as construction progresses, creating a globe that catches the wind.

After assembly, lubricate the top and bottom black discs as illustration (fig 3).

Use legs to maximise performance. When mounted on legs, the sound from the scarer travels almost twice as far.

Operating Instructions
The Scatterbird Mark 3 features a sophisticated, flexible, yet simple to operate control system allowing you to programme the number of bangs and the interval between them.
The Scatterbird can be set for an automatic start at dawn and an automatic shut-off at dusk. The bangs can be preset at precise intervals or a random pattern can be easily selected.
The operate the gas gun you will need a 12 volt battery and a cylinder of propane gas (any size of propane cylinder is suitable).
Warning:
Before operating the gas gun read the instructions in full.
Always disconnect the battery before transportation.
Before operating always clean a large fireproof area around the gun.
Never change the propane gas cylinder whilst smoking or near a naked flame.
1. Connect the regulator to the gas cylinder and turn on the supply valve, ensuring there is no gas leakage.
2. Connect the battery to the two crocodile clips ensuring correct connection, red to positive (+) and green to negative (-).

Troubleshooting Guide
Gas is being delivered but no ignition...

Test Fire Mode - to identify if control panel is malfunctioning.
Warning: before going through the test fire mode, always turn off and disconnect gas supply and make sure that all residual gas has been expelled from the barrel.

Set the Number of Bangs to one.
-
Press and hold down select button B, then press and hold select button A; each horizontal red light will light up and then go out one by one from right to left.
-
Then a loud “click” will sound, which is the solenoid opening to let gas into the chamber.
-
After three seconds, another loud “click” will loud which is the solenoid closing.
-
A series of soft “clicks” will follow immediately as the spark plug sparks to ignite the gas.
If any of the above stages (2 – 5) do not occur, the control panel may be malfunctioning. If you are sure this is the case, contact your local dealer for a replacement control panel.
