Galebreaker
Galebreaker Products have been working with Mole Valley Farmers for nearly twenty years now and both parties are looking forward to furthering the relationship. The company was formed over 25 years ago and manufactures screens and doors for all agricultural applications, which provide a healthy and light environment for livestock.
Having outgrown their old premises, they have now moved into a larger warehouse based in Ledbury, Herefordshire. This new warehouse is close to transport links and also enables them to increase production, reducing lead times for customers by allowing them to hold greater stock at the warehouse, ready to be sent out.
A wide range of products are available and, in a time where livestock are being housed before the change of season, they provide an efficient and effective alternative to traditional products.

Bayscreen
An alternative to Yorkshire Boarding, providing a semi permanent clip on system that will allow light and ventilation through whilst keeping the worst of the weather out. The screens are available in widths from 3 metres to 20 metres and heights from 1 metre to 3 metres. They are quick to put up and can be taken down easily, if required.
Rollerscreen
A spring loaded screen for use above existing gates or barriers. Suitable for feed passages, scraper passages, livestock entrances and storage areas. The Rollerscreens are available up to 6 m wide and 4 m high.
Rollerdoor
An economical and long lasting door providing access to the full height of the opening. Ideal for cattle buildings, parlours and general purpose buildings. The Rollerdoor is available up to 6 metres wide and 5 metres high.

In 4m widths with 3m, 4.5m or 6m lengths and for use in spring and summer (posts not provided), these shades offer protection against the sun for free range poultry or poultry with limited outside access.
One problem on hot summer days is that birds gain heat at an excessive rate. If they cannot get shade to reduce this they will reduce their feed intake to lower heat production. Birds feeling too hot will pant, drawing more air inside their bodies to absorb heat. They will also lift their wings to expose more body surface area to the air.

Animal Welfare
Wind chill factor is an important contributory factor in the cause of many ailments and higher feed consumption in livestock. Environmental Mastitis
Common causes are damp draughty buildings or exposed collection yards. Galebreaker systems fitted to buildings will reduce the causes of environmental mastitis. Material fitted to posts around the collection yard will also reduce the risks by creating a better environment.
Pneumonia
One of the most common ailments with housed stock in particular calves. Galebreaker systems have proven to greatly reduce the risks of pneumonia with the gentle draught-free ventilation provided.
Signs of Poor Ventilation
Stock huddled together is a clear indication of a draughty building. Livestock housed in buildings clad with Galebreaker are well spread out. The light environment ensures stress free healthy stock. Condensation, ammonia fumes, mist, damp and draughts are all factors which cause ill-health in housed stock as a result of too much uncontrolled or insignificant ventilation. Galebreaker weather screens are designed to keep out a high proportion of rain and snow providing a drier atmosphere and maintaining drier bedding and yet providing an adequate airflow, all factors which reduce the risk of respiratory diseases.
