Marketing of Beef
The old saying goes that if you don’t know where you’re going, any road will take you there. But if marketing your cattle at a profit is where you want to go, then planning for the market will help get you there.
Competing in today’s marketplace, both domestic and export, beef producers must understand marketing better. Meeting the needs of the customer is something that every successful business must continually strive to do. Producing a product for a market rather than producing a product and trying to find a market for it are two separate activities. It appears that a significant number of beef producers are doing the latter rather than the former.
Cattle producers must target the market more effectively and alter breeding and feeding practices to ensure complete compliance with the specifications called for from their customers.
