Photovoltaic and Wind Turbine Solutions
Mole Valley Renewables have initially focussed on two basic technologies as the first to roll out.
Farmers and landowners are particularly well placed for wind and photovoltaic solutions in the
South West.
- 75% of land in the South West is part of an agricultural holding
- The South West is the windiest land mass in Europe according to the South West Climate Change Impacts Partnership (SWCCIP)
- Solar radiation in the South West equals that of Northern France and Germany
Wind Speed
The map on the right gives an indication of where the strongest wind areas are in the South West. The areas shaded in red, green and yellow are considered excellent for wind projects. Potentially, much of the rest of the South West provides adequate wind speed for a viable small wind installation.
Solar Light Radiation
The map on the left clearly highlights the solar radiation rays across the South West. Cornwall has more daylight hours than anywhere in mainland UK. Even in overcast and cloudy conditions, a photovoltaic system can generate power.
Mole Valley Farmers have researched many products, services and companies, assessing the technology, returns and costs. More importantly, the viability of supply, in order to ensure our members and shareholders have reliable and trusted information on what is a very confused market.
Drawing on parallels with other European countries, supply of product in a booming market is a key issue, which is why we have established strong relationships directly with REC and Mastervolt.
Our objective has been to supply products which give a return for the duration of the feed in tariff, opting for quality, not necessarily the lowest priced product or the highest initial return.
We are well placed to take advantage of suitable conditions.
