Part of the Mole Valley Farmers philosophy is to work with the communities local to our branches and indeed further afield wherever we can. Here we have included some recent examples from each of our branches.
Our Newton Abbot branch recently raised £4,018 raised for Devon Air Ambulance and The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) by holding a charity mouse racing evening. Read more…
Business Centre Manager Jay McCoy also tells us that Newton Abbot branch have sponsored shirts for Young Farmers Clubs in Newton Abbot and Dartmouth.
At our Yeovil branch, Business Centre Manager David Dorland was delighted to be invited to the grand opening of a play area, which was built for Summerlands, a hospital that caters for people with learning difficulties. The Yeovil branch donated materials. Read more…
Nick Powell, Business Centre Manager at Frome, donated fencing and timber to a project at The Pheonix Centre (part of Frome Community College), which exists to help children that have issues with normal schooling. New vegetable beds were built with Frome branch's help, as part of the garden redesign.
Another more unusual request was made to our branch at Frome, for help with constructing a scarecrow to enter into the Norton St Philip annual competition. A quantity of baler twine was donated, which made a very impressive model of Dougal, from children’s TV programme The Magic Roundabout. So impressive in fact that Dougal scooped second prize! Early in 2009, our St Columb branch underwent a facelift. Paul Tippett, Business Centre Manager there and Assistant Manager Wayne Smith, welcomed local school children to see the work in progress. Read more…
St Columb went on to sponsor a charity horse show, in aid of horse rescue centre Horse World and also supported Cornish rugby, attending Redruth v Blaydon and Cornish All Blacks v the Camels matches, the latter helping to raise funds and awareness for testicular cancer.
And later the same year, our Ecommerce division helped a group further afield in Norfolk. Rob Goodliffe, of the Norfolk Smallholders Show Committee, said
"Thank you for your kind donation of the gift voucher to the Norfolk Smalholders Training Group for the use at The Annual Norfolk Smallholders Show. The day went very well with the sun shining throughout. Visitors were able to get a taste of the ‘good life’, meet various animals, learn about different areas of smallholding, and for many bumping into people and catching up with friends. Your donation was used as 1st prize for the Livestock Competition, being won by a group of very charismatic goats! Again I would like to thank you for your kind donation which helped make the day special for everyone."
