Autum Tupping Season Preparations with Mole Valley Farmers

Autumn Tupping Season

The autumn tupping season is upon us, and farmers who lamb slightly later are introducing their tups to the ewes.

To help ensure rams are prepared for the season, Mole Valley Farmers have an extensive range of products, from harnesses to crayons and marker crayons and aerosols  as well as fluids and raddle.

A number of vets recently told Farmers Weekly that farmers should consider buying semen testing kits for rams, as the majority will have sub-fertile rams within their flock which are disguised by the fertile ones.

Mixing sub-fertile rams, according to the vets, could result in ewes that are not pregnant and a less concentrated start to the lambing season.

On top of this, vets suggest dosing sheep for fluke earlier, as cases of the infection are slightly up on previous years, due to the good summer.

If the tupping season is getting started on your farm, you will not only need to test your rams' fertility but also make sure you are equipped with warm, waterproof clothing like that available from Hoggs of Fife to cope with the lashing rain that often accompanies the autumnal British weather.
