Mole Valley Farmers Enjoy Success at Devon County Show 2014

Our award for the Best Large Agricultural Trade Stand (non-machinery) at the Devon County Show 2014

Mole Valley Farmers enjoyed success at the Devon County Show 2014 on May 22 and 23, receiving the award for the Best Large Agricultural Trade Stand (non-machinery), as well as greeting many of our customers over the two days.

The award was judged by the chief executive of the Royal Welsh Show, Steve Hughson. The 24m x 15m marquee was complimented on its look, the business sectors and the welcome that customers were given when visiting.

Outside the marquee, Mole Valley Plus displayed a range of benefits for members with exhibitions from The Landrover Experience, Toyota, Blackdown Timber and a huge range of IAE cattle handling equipment.

Events manager Nigel Bond said: “We plan for the show from September the previous year and we have various meetings to work out what we want to happen. Regarding the actual physical set up, the marquee went up the Friday a fortnight before the show. We did this a little earlier this year as we looked at the forecast and realised the weather didn’t look overly promising for us.

“I was in and out of the showground like a yo-yo for two weeks, with a team of colleagues from both the retail and agri sectors, whose hard work brought our marquee to a professional standard.”

Highlights of the 2014 show for Mole Valley Farmers included the launch of two new Molecare animal health products, an opportunity to see our new GrassOmeter, and the presence of Mole Insurance at the marquee for the first time. “We were on hand to offer technical solutions to ensure that farm profitability is enhanced by what we do for the farmer,” Nigel added.

We had lots of our farm customers visit us, and we offered them teas and coffees and showed what we do in the business sector, and to allow people to speak to our sales teams in a nice informal atmosphere.

“Obviously it was devastating that the show had to be cancelled on the Saturday because of the weather and condition of the car parks, but I think it was the right decision. I’m sure the show will be back and stronger than ever next year.”
