Dairy Farmers Collect Milk Kart

Winner of the JFC Agri Milk Kart

Farmers Collect Their JFC Agri Milk Kart

Somerset dairy farmers, Adrian and Sharon Bullus were the lucky winners of Mole Valley Farmers’ free prize draw to win a JFC Milk Kart worth £2,000.

Over 700 entered the competition, which ran on Mole Valley Farmers stands at around 30 shows and events in 2016. Adrian’s lucky entry was placed at The Frome Agricultural & Cheese Show and was the first to be randomly selected to win the top prize.

Collecting the Milk Kart from the Mole Valley Farmers store in Frome, Adrian and Sharon said the Kart would make a big difference to how they managed calves from their 100 cow British Friesian herd at Gerretts Farm in Nunney.

“I’ve never won anything in my life. The Milk Kart will make our life a lot easier. It will also allow us to track more what calves are drinking,” said Adrian, whose father was a Mole Valley Farmers member before him.

The 340 litres ATV JFC Milk Kart with motorised mixer and pump includes a digital display to show how many litres have been dispensed to allow accurate feeding.

Taking second place was Richard and Sally Reed who run the pedigree “Allerways Herd” of Holsteins at Aller House Farm, Cullompton. They received £250 worth of Mole Valley Farmers vouchers thanks to their competition entry at Honiton Show. The pair chose to spend their winnings at the Cullompton Mole Valley Farmers store and put the money towards a milk trolley to help move fresh milk from the parlour to the calf shed.

In third place was Heather Merritt from Holsworthy, who won an Amazon Fire tablet provided by Europasat - a supplier partner working with Mole Valley Plus. The Merritts run a 300 cow autumn block calving herd and a 200 cow spring block calving herd at Nethercott Farm on the Tetcott Estate in Devon. Having picked up her prize from the Mole Valley Farmers store in Holsworthy, Heather plans to put the tablet to good use to help record cattle movements and view milk records.
