Open Farm Sunday 2014 Provides a Behind the Scenes Look at Agriculture

Open Farm Sunday

Celebrate farming with Open Farm Sunday 8th June 2014

A celebration of British farming and food is taking place next month, when farms across the region take part in for Open Farm Sunday allowing public access to see behind the scenes of their yards and pastures.

The event organised by LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) on Sunday 8 June will show the fantastic job farmers do to food and enhance the countryside.

From Falmouth to Frome and everywhere in between people can enjoy the sights, smells and sounds with activities including meeting animals, trailer rides, machinery displays and self-guided walks.

Open Farm Sunday offers an informative and enjoyable day out for everyone, young and old alike. Each farm plans their own unique event and many will include a host of activities from nature walks and farm tours, to sheep shearing, machinery displays and even cookery demonstrations showcasing the rich diversity of British Farming. The event has been growing ever since it began in 2006, and last year saw a record 200,000 visitors to farms across the nation. You can search for participating farms near you and find out information on the event by visiting www.farmsunday.org

If you are throwing the gates of your farm open and you need to get ready for the event, you can find a full range of agricultural supplies on our site.
